The Annual Diner Dance & Awards Evening will take place on Saturday 30th November 2013 at the club. The meal is 5 courses and the main course is pork that will be served and  carved at the table by those at the table. Black tie event, minimum collar and tie please.2013

The evening is 7:00pm for 7:30pm prompt start, everybody must be seated so that we can get started in plenty of time to get everything in. The trophies will be presented when the coffee is served, this will be followed by Kimmo a comedian and ventriloquist guaranteed to make you laugh so hard your sides will hurt.

Lee Bradbury will conclude the evening with a disco.

Please drop me a line/txt to book places. All are welcome but I would welcome plenty of notice so we know how many we are catering for. Also, if you know who is sitting at your table could you let me know that too so I can do the seating plan.

Thank you.

Secretary’s Day – Saturday 31st August 2013

I would like to say a huge thank you to everybody who played through the course of the day, we saw some wonderful golf and some very high scores. It was the first event I have organised and I have to say it was a bit daunting but everybody who played and those who didn’t but came to the meal in the evening made the day worthwhile.

2 cards of 45 were testament to the quality of the golf. Harold Cushway and his partner P Johnson won on the back 9 count back, James Bradshaw and Gary England were 2nd and Granville Woodhouse and his partner John Bennett came 3rd with a very respectable 43.

Well done Elaine Sleight and Linda Styles who won the ladies competition. This was a very close result with Heidi Spencer and Cheryl Megson finishing 2nd. Well done ladies the day was all the better for your presence!

Jamie Dixon had quite a day of it with Andy Edge’s continual encouragement and Ken Slack’s advice about training for driving the club buggy would have stood the Secretary in good stead who managed to get it stuck on a narrow bridge.

I thought the meal was great and the cost was kept down because of Elaine, Sabina and Victoria, the lovely women in my life. Thank you too to Sean Ryan, Vice Captain, for the work he did to putting the boards out for the spot prizes and for opening the speeches at the evening meal.

Thank you everybody.

Andy.

Ladies Section

We are trying to increase the size of our ladies section this year. In an attempt to encourage more ladies to join our club we teamed up with Derbyshire Golf and Women and Girls into Golf initiative. A series of six one-hour taster sessions were funded by Derbyshire Golf and Robbie Bennett worked with a group of ladies, introducing them to the basics of the game. We hope to be able to run more taster sessions later in the year.

Thank you Robbie for your efforts and thank you ladies for making it worthwhile.

We are hoping to be able to improve the facilities for lady members too before the end of the season with access to toilets and changing facilities.

Some of our lady members have been able to get handicaps this year, thank you Harold for doing this. We hope to get the ladies red tees measured this year too, so handicaps will hopefully become easier.

Summer Meeting and Fun Day

Summer meeting and fun day was a great success with plenty in attendance and plenty of sunshine. The Committee would like to thank everybody who bought raffle tickets and burgers/hot dogs, we raised a total of £274.00, half of which was put into the Captain’s Charity, the rest going to the golf club. Thank you too to all the Committee who donated the prizes for the raffle.

A big thank you to Robbie Bennett for giving up his time to give the young budding golfers some coaching; a thank you also to Matt Green of Derbyshire Golf for the provision of the inflatable golf nets.
