I would like to say a huge thank you to everybody who played through the course of the day, we saw some wonderful golf and some very high scores. It was the first event I have organised and I have to say it was a bit daunting but everybody who played and those who didn’t but came to the meal in the evening made the day worthwhile.
2 cards of 45 were testament to the quality of the golf. Harold Cushway and his partner P Johnson won on the back 9 count back, James Bradshaw and Gary England were 2nd and Granville Woodhouse and his partner John Bennett came 3rd with a very respectable 43.
Well done Elaine Sleight and Linda Styles who won the ladies competition. This was a very close result with Heidi Spencer and Cheryl Megson finishing 2nd. Well done ladies the day was all the better for your presence!
Jamie Dixon had quite a day of it with Andy Edge’s continual encouragement and Ken Slack’s advice about training for driving the club buggy would have stood the Secretary in good stead who managed to get it stuck on a narrow bridge.
I thought the meal was great and the cost was kept down because of Elaine, Sabina and Victoria, the lovely women in my life. Thank you too to Sean Ryan, Vice Captain, for the work he did to putting the boards out for the spot prizes and for opening the speeches at the evening meal.
Thank you everybody.
